new! new items!

Daddy bought me not 1 pair but 2 pairs of new shoes for me! Yeah! 1 pair from Nike - new model called "sensory motion system". "chim!" mummy said but she likes it the moment I put on for trying and the cushion support is very good. The other pair is Crocs shoes model : girl mary jane shoe, no more mickey jane shoes as this model is more expensive.

Also daddy bought me a bookshelf during weekend. I've got the same range of wardrobe, chest drawer, table, chair and even table lamp from IKEA - Mammut series. Daddy pondering whether should buy the same model for the bed when I outgrown my cot bed? Mum put the bookshelf in the living room instead of my room to supervise me as afraid I will tear the books! oooohhh! I like to take the books to read now (or rather flip the pages on some books to refresh my memory). That's why they think it is time I should have my own "little library" corner.

find daddy, miss daddy

Daddy went back to work today after having MC for more than a week. I woke up didn't see daddy and kept asking mum where is daddy?

Me : where daddy?
Mum : daddy went to work
Me : find daddy, back --- meaning when will daddy be back
Mum : daddy will be back about 7 o'clock
Me : 7 o'clock
Mum : You miss daddy?
Me : miss daddy, 你 在 那 里?

Mum smsed daddy. He wants mum to tell me that he got to work to feed me and mum did relay the message to me.

Me : feed me, work.

Mummy wondered if I understand ?

sentence words

Mummy teach me to speak in sentence words.

@Ikea - said "I want to eat grapes please, mummy" but I spoke each word in a loud voice ....to protest why must said it in long sentence? Can't I just say "grapes" only? The second video shown it all as I refused to say more than once just like reading a book in repetitive words.
Daddy said I am plain lazy :((. Mum also wants me to say it in mandarin.

interesting action / just like mummy

While daddy was looking for a new pair of jeans at Anchorpoint, I danced to the beat when the music was on (of course, not the children's song but adult pop song!). When the music stopped, I stopped too. The sales staff saw me and asked me to dance & I gamely danced again! I love dancing just like mummy.

Now I like this phrase "just like mummy" as mum borrowed a book from library titled "just like mummy". I will take mummy's lipstick from the cabinet and will make the action of applying it on my lip and said "just like mummy".

interesting dialogue

scenario 1 : at ikea lying on sofa bed and a passer-by said hello to her friend and I said "hello" back. Before going back home for my dinner, I said bye-bye to : bed, pillow, couch.

scenario 2 : outside our house, saw our indian neighbour and said "hello, 阿 姨”and just when mum wanted to close the door, I said "see you!" and they burst into laughter.

I'm 23rd mth old!

Woah! Times flies and I will turn 2 in a month's time. As usual, mummy will try to post pictures of me on every 19th of the month if possible. I kept smiling away happily knowing mummy was taking picture of me as I said "take picture". Mummy said I've turned into a little sweetie pie. "hee! hee!"

@suntec city - looking for my sticker (sticker given by the school after the class ended for marking attendance and mummy stick it on my hand and I lost it) and said "你 在 哪 里”?My current favourite words now. Making funny sound in the video as I will imitate it whenever I heard those squirky shoes sound worn by kids.

Motor-skills and other skill-sets I've acquired so far :

1) Getting more talkative - luckily have not get to the stage of asking "why? why?". Else mummy will get headache.

2) Likes to climb up here and there. I am able to sit well on my own at outside hawker centre but likes to stand/ jump on the chair or stool or climb up on the table.

3) Likes to imitate fake cry from mummy. When mummy ask me to hug her and I said "don't want" and mummy pretend to cry and cover her face with the fake cry sound. Now I will act on her behalf and pretend to cry too. Mummy faintz...

4) Trying to speak more mandarin now though I am better with english. Can pick-up fast on english to chinese translation.

5) Show more interest in singing songs like incy wincy spider, head & shoulder knees & toes.

6) Can read simple books but mummy discovered I do not like to repeat words that I know if more pages in repetitive words which are common on books for my age. Eg. lately mummy bought few 2nd hand books on Ladybird - peter & jane key words reading scheme. There are many pages repeated on peter, jane, dog, shop, toys and I will only read once or twice after that shows disinterest until mummy read some new words and I start to look at it. Luckily, mum didn't buy many of this series books as heard this is good for beginners to read. This applies to other books as well. Mummy wondered if GD teaching method is correct as he said do not show more than number of times the same word? Which explain why I like "Goodnight moon 123" counting book and not the more popular "Goodnight moon" book as every page do not really repeat the same word except the "goodnight" word on 2 -3 pages.

7) I have not learn to point word on my own yet but mummy wondered if it is necessary to point word by word? Daddy said this is to show that I know the word if I point and said it.

confused "a" / where are u?

Went to Ikea to play in the afternoon after my nap. There was a girl sitting and spinning the egg-shape chair and I gave a cheeky look and said loudly "girl!" and sign it. The girl's mum laughed at my cute remark and so were mum & dad.

I was looking for dad and said "where are you?" as well as in mandarin "你 在 哪 里?". This is because I am able to recall mummy read me a chinese book title "你 在 哪 里?”

Mummy noticed I am confused with the letter "a" when read book. I said "a" as in alphabet sound instead of "er". Dad said I will configure it out sooner or later.

Daddy had a minor operation on his leg at Paragon medical centre. Mummy and I accompanied dad. Mum saw a weighing scale and weighed me. I weighed 12kg now (increase from 11.6kg). Dad on MC for a week. Poor daddy :(

where are u? / 三 字 经 (video)

After my noon nap for 3 hours (1-4pm), played hide & seek with mummy again. I hide at a corner outside my room and said "where are you?" and peeked at mummy and said "I see you!". Mummy can't help but laughed at my action. During nappy change, I managed to say the 1st 2 phrases of 三 字 经 on my own but of course, my mandarin speaking still not so fluent but manageble to hear. Mummy managed to video me recite the last word of each 3 characters (spoken softly at times). My sudden interest of " 三 字 经".

三子经 (part 2)

As mentioned in my previous blog on my 22th mth's achievements in May, mummy read me the next few phrases and whenever I saw the mini-book of 三子经, I am so happy and said it loud 三子经!

Mummy noticed I am particularly remember the last words of each 3 characters and especially the last phrase of the word and will shout it.

Below are the next phrases I know in highlight red color.

养 不 , 父 之 ,教 不 , 师 之 , 子 不 , 非 所 , 幼 不 , 老 和

玉 不 ,不 成 , 人 不 , 不 知 , 为 人 , 方 少 , 亲 师 , 习 礼

I kept asking for "人之初”in the morning when I wake up and while mummy wash her face in her room. Mummy knows what I want and switch on the vcd for me to watch as the songs are very catchy and I jump on the bed happily. "yeah!"

And daddy too....trying to learn the 三子经 and whispers on my ear and I kept giggling, smiling away happily too! It tickles....

sentence words

Lately I am very cheeky....playing hide & seek with mum & dad. Dad hide behind a chair outside our house corridor and I noticed dad not around and said "no more" and look for dad. I saw dad and said "I see you!" and they burst into laughter!

I am trying to speak into sentence words now. 2 - 5 words (eg. I like eat grapes....please, sit on bed). And I like to say bye-bye to this & that (bye-bye cat, crab, duck, penguin, fish ---my bath toys!).

And I managed to say chinese 十一 到 二十 (11-20).

read books

Reading "Goodnight Moon 123" book by Margaret Wise Brown. Mummy is very pleased and proud of me that I am able to read books though she had to point word by word and also I can even read the text handwritten by mummy (refers to yesterday's blog).

"Not bad for a 22th months old girl" mummy said as she thought toddlers will start to read after 2 years old.

Trying to read "That's not my truck" book by Usborne. I like this series of "That's not my .....".

@Vivo - waterplay with sis kana & aunt eileen.

I like to play with water much now even at home while mummy preparing bath for me and wants to feel the water splash on my body with the waterhose.
after my noon nap from 2:25pm - 4:15pm.....feeling fresh and happy and I want to....
jump!

read handwritten "goodnight moon 123" / songs

Played with sis Chen Xin & her helper. Mum got to know them at Ikea when I just started to learn to crawl! As it is school holiday now, her mum brought them there to play.

Out of sudden, mummy wrote down the 1st 3 pages of "goodnight moon 123" text on paper and test if I can read. Yes, I can! But the background noise make it harder to listen, therefore have to raise the speaker volume ;)

My current favourite songs are "teddy bear"
- do the action "turn around" and "fall right down!"

and also "大 象” - elephant nursery rhyme song.
